Mendel Samayoa

Mendel Samayoa is a multifaceted Guatemalan artist with a career spanning decades in various creative fields, including painting, sculpture, filmmaking, graphic design, architecture, and more. From his early solo exhibitions in Guatemala during the 1980s to teaching and developing expressionist techniques in Chile, Mendel has consistently pushed artistic boundaries. Notable milestones include co-founding the CAOS collective, which innovated with live collaborative painting, and presenting at international events like The Other Art Fair in London and the Carrousel du Louvre. His work has been showcased globally, from Paris to Abu Dhabi, reflecting his evolution from expressionism to anthropomorphic surrealism. Named an Ambassador of Art and Culture by Guatemala’s Creative Industries, he continues to influence and innovate within the visual arts world, blending technical skill with conceptual depth.
Lucia Rohrman
Painter and Sculptor | Guatemala City, Guatemala
Lucia Rohrmann lives and works in Guatemala, a country whose vibrant landscapes and rich cultural heritage have profoundly shaped her artistic vision. Growing up surrounded by mountains, mist, colors, and diverse traditions, Lucia began her artistic journey in 1989 with her first solo exhibition. Since then, she has showcased 24 solo exhibitions, participated in numerous group shows, and earned various awards and recognitions.
Specializing in painting and sculpture, Lucia’s preferred mediums are acrylic on canvas and crystal resin. As an abstract figurative artist, she often explores themes of femininity, using her work as a platform to represent women and amplify their voices. In addition, Lucia delves into the abstract through pieces crafted from plexiglass, employing spirals and other symbolic forms to evoke introspection. These works, which range from suspended sculptures to totemic installations, reflect years of dedication and a profound exploration of the mind and spirit.

Ana Lorena Nuñez

Ana Lorena Núñez is a self-taught mixed-media artist from Guatemala, whose work explores the intricate layers of human experiences, particularly focusing on women’s journeys. Through her art, Ana delves into themes of personal growth, relationships, conflicts, and the marks they leave on our memories. Her creations reflect the mystery of how experiences are stored, emerge, and resurface, shaping us as individuals.
Central to Ana’s work is her collaboration with the same model, whom she has been photographing and painting since the model was four years old; now, at 21, she continues to inspire Ana’s art. This enduring partnership allows Ana to capture the evolution of a character across time, reflecting the challenges and discoveries of each life stage. Ana’s work has received significant recognition, including winning the Manuel Belgrano Award for the most emblematic piece at the V Bienal Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo de Argentina in April 2022, and second place at Un Seul Grain de Riz, 4ème Édition, Paris, in December 2016.

Virginia Santamarina

Virginia Santamarina, born and raised in Guatemala City, began her journey into sculpture in 2016, exploring various techniques and experimenting with object interventions. This initial exploration led her to fully embrace three-dimensional expression, discovering it as her ideal medium for self-expression.
In 2019, Virginia transitioned to direct stone carving, a practice that has since defined her artistic trajectory. Her work has been showcased in numerous national and international collective exhibitions, earning recognition for its distinct style.
Organic forms, rich in rhythm and movement, are hallmarks of her sculptures. Guided by an innate intuition, Virginia approaches each stone with a profound sensitivity, aiming to reveal its essence and soul through her artistry.
